It was impossible not to notice that they didn't communicate as much as they used to.  She listened more than she spoke when the show was on air; they hadn't seen each other outside the office for months. (She wasn't sure he even knew that she had been at his Dad's funeral.)

It had started with the downturn in Will's popularity after the American Taliban comment.  It wasn't helped by his involvement with "Mrs Macbeth".   She hoped with all her heart that it would end now that relationship was over.

She had heard about the break up on the grapevine.  He hadn't said anything -  about that or about them.  And days later she was feeling the nigglings of disappointment as nothing had changed.

Then, 30 seconds out from the B block, he muttered her name and she, automatically looked at the screen that displayed his image.  Where, despite being unable to actually see her, he met her eyes.  And held her gaze.   And curved his lips into a smile that prompted the same from hers.

And that said everything.
